The railway line in Operation Area 9 Jember still uses a single track line and mostly passes through the hilly area sector. The location of the railroad itself is in an excavation area that passes through many slopeson the left and right. Based on the inspection data of Resort 9.6 Kalisat in 2023, the excavation slope is categorized as a potential landslide area. This research is to identify the value of the safety factor of the slope before reinforcement, then compare the reinforcement of the slope using earth spikes and retaining walls and how it applies to railway slopes. The required soil parameters are taken using the undisturbedsampling method at a depth of 1.5 m, then to find the value of the slope safety factor, two methods are used: Plaxis 2D CE V20 Bentley software and Bishop’s method for manual calculation. The results obtained that the safety factor value is 1.19 using Plaxis 2D and 0.97 using the Bishop’s method. After the application of soil nailing, it was found that the safety factor value reached 1.534, and using retaining walls, 2.337. From the results of these two reinforcements, it can be seen that the result of the safety factor value of the retaining wall is greater than soil nailing; both of these reinforcements have met the safety factor limit value of 1.5, thus minimizing the possibility of landslide dangers on the slope. In addition, these results can also be used as recommendations for project managers to find alternative reinforcement.
