Analysis of Foundation Type Selection Using a Green Construction Approach

This study analyzes the selection of foundation types using a green construction approach in Indonesia, where construction projects are rapidly advancing. In line with the Indonesian government’s development agenda, there is a growing emphasis on environmentally sustainable construction, known as green construction, which seeks to minimize environmental impact. The research utilized the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, with primary data collected through questionnaires distributed to respondents. The results indicate that the highest priority criterion for foundation selection is the method of implementation followed by water conservation, project planning and scheduling, training and operation of construction equipment, environmental impact, material waste management and documentation. The foundation alternatives considered include (2,248) piles, (2,161) bore piles, and (1,971) well foundations. The analysis concludes that the best foundation alternative involves a combination of these methods, with piles emerging as the most suitable option, followed by bore piles and well foundations. This study provides valuable insights for promoting sustainable construction practices in Indonesia.
