This study assesses the road safety of public high schools in Bacoor City, Cavite, using the Star Rating for Schools (SR4S) system. With the cooperation of the Philippines’ Department of Education division office, Bacoor City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management office, and school officials, on-site surveys were conducted to gather data on road characteristics. Major safety concerns for pedestrians and vehicles, such as the lack of sidewalks, inadequate crossings, and insufficient speed control, were identified. Proposed interventions, including pedestrian channelization, crosswalks, shoulder rumble strips, and optimized traffic signals, were simulated and evaluated. The results showed significant improvements in safety ratings: two schools achieved a low-medium risk level (4 stars) and six schools moved to a medium-risk level (3 stars) from their initial high-risk ratings (1 star). These findings underscore the importance of targeted road safety interventions in enhancing the safety of school environments. The study demonstrates that strategic improvements can significantly mitigate risks and ensure a safer experience for all road users, particularly students. By implementing these interventions, the overall safety and star ratings of schools can be improved, highlighting the necessity of continued focus on road safety measures in school zones.
