A one-month-old male infant was diagnosed with tricuspid atresia due to cyanosis of the lips. He was scheduled to undergo a central shunt procedure under general anesthesia. Tricuspid atresia is one of the single-ventricle physiological disorders. Central shunt procedure is referred to as systemic-pulmonary artery shunt between the ascending aorta and the pulmonary artery by a Gore-Tex artificial blood vessel, which is aimed to relieve hypoxia, promote the development of pulmonary artery, and prepare for staged Fontan surgery in the future. The key to anesthesia during the central shunt procedure includes optimizing systemic oxygen supply and maintaining a balance between systemic and pulmonary circulation as much as possible.
