Fractal Dimension-Based Hemispherical Asymmetry Analysis of Prodromal AD

In the study, nonlinear time domain metrics are used to assess the electroencephalogram (EEG) of healthy and mild cognitive impairment–Alzheimer’s disease (MCI–AD) patients. Understanding MCI-AD cognitive decline in both cognitive task and resting conditions is the purpose of this investigation. Studies employing temporal domain metrics which include fractal dimension (FD) reveal that in MCI–AD, the parietal lobe is the most damaged region during both resting and cognitive states. Homologous areas interhemispheric symmetry (HArS) is used to analyze changes in asymmetry in the brain’s hemispheres. EEG screening imparts great insights into identifying AD at the prodromal stage.
