The interaction of emotion and cognition builds stronger social cognition, the essential phenomena, that is necessary for humans to deal with society in all stages and situations of their life. Human cognition executes the functions such as how we think, feel, apply, and approach the situations or episodes in our social and individual pattern of life. These functions create memories related to emotional and cognitive functions, which in turn influence our future activities. In this execution, metathinking helps us in thinking about the process of our own thinking for a particular task or situation in social context. In a social setting, the initiators of the interpersonal communication need to be aware of their own thinking and emotional states and their respondents, to assist in developing the repertoire of thoughts and manage cognitive resources. The knowledge or awareness about one’s own emotion (Metaemotion) eases emotional responses, which aids in predicting the consequences of our action. To execute the metaemotional function, the human cognition needs metathinking. In this line, this chapter examines the reciprocal aspects of metaemotion and metathinking that underlie and determine our actions or responses in a social setting. It addresses the importance of developing social cognition that increases our ability to think about how people act, react, and handle their emotional and cognitive states in social situations.

摘要
