摘要

Cognitive writing is a process that emphasizes critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving. It involves processing information and ideas in a way that enables a writer to evaluate, synthesize, and communicate complex information effectively. In cognitive writing, the writer must analyze the information and present well-supported arguments that demonstrate a deep understanding of the topic. This requires the writer to use cognitive processes such as perception, attention, memory, reasoning, and problem-solving. The present chapter explores the enhancement of students’ cognitive writing wherein they will be encouraged to employ cognitive strategies and skills say, critical thinking, problem-solving, and metacognition in their writing process. In line with the digital metamorphoses in the education, the chapter discusses the impact of digital pedagogy such as the employment of digital portfolios, self-assessment tools, learning management systems, mind mapping tools, goal setting tools, writing prompts and exercises, digital storytelling, writing collaboration tools, online writing communities, etc., in students’ cognitive writing. As a result, the chapter proposes that the integration of digital pedagogy in English language classroom can foster the cognitive writing of the students, thereby augmenting their critical thinking skills, communication skills, academic performance, and preparing them for the workforce.
