The aim of this chapter is to introduce the basic concepts and elementary results that are used throughout the book. A survey of the basic fixed point theory for both single-valued and multi-valued mappings will be presented. Starting from the basics of Banach’s fixed point theorem, most of the main results and techniques are developed and fixed point results are established for several classes of maps. The results in this chapter may be found in most standard books dealing with functional analysis and fixed point theory.
