The aim of this study is the analysis of data reliability in production management information systems. First of all, reliability problems with individual types of sensors—analog, binary and incremental—are analyzed. The problems and the way to solve them are described in more detail in two case studies: analog sensors at the information system of a coal preparation plant and incremental sensors at the dispatch system of an Innogy underground gas storage.
