Heat transfer and energy conservation are crucial for plate heat exchangers (PHEs). To set up a criterion covering heat transfer and energy conservation for PHEs, a numerical analysis on the PHEs from commercial electric vehicle was performed and verified by its corresponding experiment. Then, via the derived entropy generation and JF factor, a quantitative energy efficiency index (EEI) was proposed in terms of j and f factors. This work may somehow offer a reference for the PHE comprehensive optimization.
