This chapter explores ASEAN’s role as both a key participant and host of international sporting events, highlighting its growing influence in global sports. First, ASEAN’s participation in international sporting events is examined, showcasing its active involvement in major competitions such as the Olympic Games, the Asian Games, and regional tournaments. ASEAN countries have produced world-class athletes and have strengthened sports diplomacy, using international events to enhance regional unity and global recognition. Second, ASEAN’s role as a key host for international sporting events is analyzed. Countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore have successfully hosted major tournaments, including the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) and the Asian Games. These events contribute to economic growth, tourism, and infrastructure development, positioning ASEAN as a competitive destination for global sports.
