Water is an irreplaceable natural resource which is essential for the existence of life on the planet. It plays a vital role in sanitation and maintaining hygiene especially the areas facing water scarcity. Inadequate access to clean water increases the risk of diseases like cholera and other waterborne illnesses. Reliable water services are essential for ensuring public health in water-stressed areas. In addition, water infrastructure is a crucial component of achieving sustainable development goals and building a resilient future. This study explores, investigates and presents the “Paanpoi” water services. The “Paanpoi” water services are provided through the earthen pots on the streets of urban city Pune, India. The prime objective of the study is to identify and map the stakeholders, lack of hygienic maintenance and shutting down of “Paanpoi” water services. Service design methodology is employed in the study. It consists of exploration, creation and reflection stages. The exploration stage involves service safari for identifying stakeholders, storage and maintenance facility of water services and pain points in the “Paanpoi” water services. It reveals that the primary consumption of “Paanpoi” water services are auto rickshaw drivers and their respective trusts and foundations. The other stakeholders associated with this service are trusts, NGOs, temple management committee, visitors, Municipal corporation, etc. The creation stage involves brainstorming and concept development. The reflection stage presents the re-design of “Paanpoi” water services through a service blueprint. This paper could aid in strategic management of water resources for social workers, NGOs and local governing bodies to gain an understanding of “Paanpoi” water services.
