Enhancing Disaster Preparedness in High Rise Residential Societies: A Qualitative Study
摘要
An important aspect of disaster preparedness is the effective utilization of available resources and the ability to respond during emergencies. In recent decades, there has been a significant impact of disasters, with a notable lack of preparedness among individuals, particularly those residing in residential societies. This study focuses understanding the current state of disaster preparedness and need for developing awareness among individuals to be vigilant and responsive to impending disasters while enhancing warning systems and facilitating effective communication and coordination. Questionnaire-based survey was conducted with residents of a high-rise residential society. Thematic analysis was used for data analysis and two broad themes were extracted from the sub themes. This research introduces a novel approach by integrating technology into existing platforms like the applications commonly used in residential societies for providing Training and Education, accessing training sessions both online and offline, gamifying the learning experience and incentivizing participation through reward points. This innovative solution aims to empower residents with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively respond to emergencies, ultimately enhancing community resilience and disaster preparedness.
