In financial services, the emergence of Fintech is seen as a watershed event presenting both opportunities and challenges for consumers. A vital question in this area is how to enhance consumer experience while protecting consumers. This is especially important in a country such as India where bottom-of-the-pyramid users who may also be low-literate are using Fintech technologies on their mobile phones. While designers of these Fintech apps maybe aiming primarily toward enhanced ease of use, they should not subvert the need for consumer protection. How then can designers balance consumer experience with consumer protection in this area? The case study was conducted in Jamshedpur, India, which is a Tier II city. In this study, we aimed to understand, which factors impact consumer protection and satisfaction within Fintech services and establish their interplay. Using survey techniques, data was gathered from Fintech users and experts in the field. Analysis was conducted with the help of Importance Performance Analysis and Pearson correlation analysis. Results indicated that consumer satisfaction in Fintech is affected by parameters such as perceived usefulness encompassing cost and time efficiency, ease of use, perceived risk involving trustworthiness and reliability, and consumer innovativeness. The study underscores the necessity for a holistic approach to Fintech that fosters innovation and satisfaction while upholding consumer protection.
