Women-owned and operated micro-enterprises in India encounter critical challenges in obtaining credit from the formal sector stemming from various factors. The overarching goal of this research is to identify barriers and facilitate smoother access to credit and empower women entrepreneurial homemakers to grow their businesses, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to the economy. Employing a design-led research approach, our methodology integrates creative research techniques and utilizes a qualitative methods approach, enabling a profound exploration of the intricate human emotions and perceptions entwined with the process of availing formal credit for the enterprise. By delving into the nuanced experiences of women entrepreneurial homemakers, this presentation offers valuable insights at the intersection of design research and the socio-economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs. It provides actionable insights to foster inclusion, equity, and economic growth by improving credit accessibility for women entrepreneurs owning/ leading micro-enterprises. The research outcome will be helpful to stakeholders like Commercial and Cooperative banks, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, RBI, Micro Finance Institutes, and Women Empowerment Groups to facilitate availing business credit more easily.
