Repurposing shipping containers for workspace design addresses sustainability challenges by utilizing existing resources and minimizing construction waste. This paper explores how advanced technologies and natural materials can be integrated into shipping container-based workspaces to enhance sustainability, energy efficiency, and occupant well-being. The research addresses three key questions: (1) How can advanced technologies improve the energy efficiency and environmental sustainability of shipping container workspaces? (2) What impact does the incorporation of natural materials have on environmental performance and occupant comfort? (3) What design methodologies effectively combine these elements to tackle major environmental challenges? Through a systematic literature review of 30 academic papers and industry reports, and in-depth case study analysis, the paper synthesizes current knowledge and provides practical insights. Findings demonstrate that strategic integration of smart technologies and sustainable materials significantly reduces environmental impact, enhances energy efficiency, and promotes healthier indoor environments. This study contributes to sustainable design practices by offering a comprehensive approach to developing future shipping container-based workspaces.
