Multifunctional Home Wear: Preliminary Investigation into Dynamic Domestic Activities

Contemporary lifestyle patterns reveal an urgent need for clothing design to embrace a functional approach that meets the diverse demands of modern living. This research advocates for a paradigm shift in clothing design, emphasising functionality to support the dynamic activities of individuals within their homes. This study highlights the importance of ergonomically designed clothing for enhanced performance and adaptability in daily tasks. Employing a comprehensive analysis of movements associated with domestic tasks, the research ensures that design considerations are informed by practical utility and user comfort. The core proposition introduces a conceptual garment engineered to fulfil multiple domestic functions, enabling seamless transitions between home-based activities without compromising functionality or comfort. This garment extends beyond traditional roles, underscoring the need for versatility and ease, thus serving as a practical tool for domestic life. This study aims to contribute to the discourse on functional clothing by demonstrating the potential for garments to evolve beyond conventional utility, emerging as adaptable, responsive entities tailored to the multifaceted lifestyles of contemporary society. The results highlight the necessity for multifunctional home wear that combines adjustability, built-in wipes, ergonomic fit, and durable materials, enhancing comfort and efficiency in various domestic activities.
