Effective communication stands as the cornerstone of successful outcomes, particularly in the realm of education. Nurturing effective communication not only alleviates stress levels among students but also cultivates a positive classroom environment. This paper adopts a research-through-design approach to explore aspects of non-verbal communication within classrooms, with a specific focus on the impact of body language on students since there has been limited research done on this area. To delve deeper into the realm of body language, two probes were meticulously designed with a gamified approach. The first probe seeks to unravel diverse student perceptions derived from facial expressions, body postures, and gestures. Conversely, the second probe aims to discern the influence of body language in various classroom scenarios. The participants in these experiments include both undergraduate and post-graduate students from the design department at an Indian university. Data is collected through a combination of focus group discussions and written responses and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis to derive meaningful results. Notably, close observation during the experiments reveals a high level of student engagement while engaging with both the probes. The insights gained from these experiments, focused on understanding the impact of body language, have the potential to enhance the classroom environment, alleviate stress, and ultimately contribute to achieving better educational outcomes.
