Maithili/Mahbubani paintings are among the most celebrated traditional forms of India. Recognized by the world, these traditional practices have seen transitions while adapting their reception to the world from rituals to Mithila painting (an identity) to Madhubani painting (an economy) to the school of art. Further evolving with time, it may adapt to various other forms. Touched with phases of adaptation, these forms are rich examples of revival impacts and implications. This evolution shares a parallel path with Indian history. Marking Indian history in three phases: pre-independence, independence, and post-liberalization, the study reviews books, journals, and research papers to gather the progression made to build knowledge and the economy. In addition to books and research papers, online articles, publications and audio video interviews were also used to gather insights. Proceeding to the literature review, a site visit and market visit were conducted to record the current updates on the Madhubani painting. The site includes Patna, Madhubani City, and Jitwarpur, and the market visit covers the government set-up for handicraft mart and e-commerce sites. The study briefly traces the progression of Mithila/Madhubani painting and its current status in globalization. Further, elaborating on the covered and unexplored tracks to globally recognized Indian cultural art form Madhubani painting, the research motivates scholars to pave new paths by visualizing the subject matter with a new lens.
