Addressing these gaps could provide a more holistic understanding of the impact of phygital devices on user acceptance, fostering a more informed and responsible approach toward the integration of phygital into design practices. The current paper looks into the realm of “Phygital” devices designed for children in the context of the Western region of India. The current study involves the use of design ethnography tools like rapport building, conversation, and contextual inquiry for data collection. Through a comparative analysis of current phygital devices adopting criteria of usability, functionality, aesthetics and affordability—the author investigates user perception among children and parents in a localized context. The paper reports on the nuances preferences and usage tendencies, as a medium of learning. The outcome also contributes to a better understanding of the evolving landscape of a child assistive product design and development integrating emerging technologies.
