The global burden of respiratory illness is rising, driven by factors like air pollution, urbanization, and lifestyle choices. This makes continuous improvement in pulmonary care and respiratory therapy, including the devices used for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation much more necessary. Respiratory therapy extends beyond patients with chronic respiratory conditions, playing a crucial role in postoperative care and across diverse age groups. While a certain range of devices cater to various needs, there are no product variations when considering the age group of the patient and their ability to comprehend and perform each method. This could affect results catering to its functionality, user-friendliness, and affordability. This study aimed to identify gaps in existing devices and explore opportunities for innovation. It also focuses on the challenges faced due to the availability and accessibility of advanced respiratory assistive devices. This study employed judgmental sampling techniques. Medical experts such as pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, cardiopulmonary physiotherapists, and pediatricians were interviewed across India over a duration of six months. The data collected was analyzed qualitatively. This research concluded the areas for product development for devices used in respiratory therapy. Beyond physical devices, psychological factors significantly impact the effectiveness of respiratory interventions. Patient comprehension, motivation, and ability to perform exercises are crucial considerations when designing new technologies, emphasizing the need for solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also culturally sensitive, user-centered, and accessible to all.
