City Parts: Urban Form Design Guidelines for Floating Cities
摘要
Urban form design guidelines provide frameworks that ensure sustainability and equal access to quality urban life in cities. This chapter discusses the application of urban form design guideline principles to floating cities. Drawing from existing literature on urban design governance and case studies from floating cities in Vietnam, the Philippines and the Netherlands, this chapter proposes a framework for analysing the proposed design for Oceanix in South Korea. Using the concept of City Parts, devised by Oswald Ungers and Rem Koolhaas, the analysis reveals a discussion about the challenge in balancing adequate public open space to ensure amenable cities that foster social cohesion, while also preserving affordable housing that is accessible to everyone in floating cities.
