Destination Image, Personality and Satisfaction: The Case of the Azores
摘要
Understanding what drives travelers to visit a particular destination can help develop more effective marketing strategies. This study therefore investigates the main motivations that influence the intention to go or return to the Azores. A quantitative methodology was applied using a questionnaire aimed at non-residents. 215 responses were obtained from people who had visited the Azores and those who had never visited it before, and it was found that there was similarity between the reasons given by each of them. In addition, it was meant to understand whether the image and personality of the destination can influence satisfaction with a visit to the Azores. Through a structural equation analysis using SmartPLS, results led to the acceptance of the research hypotheses. Conclusions suggest that destination image and destination personality have a positive impact on satisfaction with the destination.
