Mitigating Seasonal Impact: Exploring Approaches at Douro Museum
摘要
Seasonal patterns impact various economic sectors, ranging from primary to tertiary industries. Tourism, especially cultural and museum visits, is particularly influenced by this phenomenon. This predictable constraint on the sector allows for the anticipation of supply strategies to mitigate its effects and encourage consistent demand throughout the year. Such strategies may include market diversification, dynamic pricing, and enhancing visitor experiences through promotions that showcase a variety of activities and event packages. This study provides a foundation for addressing the seasonality observed at the Douro Museum in the Alto Douro region. An exploratory case study was conducted, employing both qualitative and quantitative research methods to gain a deeper understanding of this complex issue. Diversifying cultural products, implementing differentiated pricing, and engaging with the community are crucial for maintaining a steady flow of visitors. The study suggests that these approaches could serve as a model for other cultural institutions facing similar challenges, promoting sustainable and continuous cultural tourism throughout the year.
