The aim of this article is to propose a smart ecosystem that allows the development of tourism products in local communities. This research is based on a review of the literature that evidence community tourism development and the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the tourism sector, considering the technological gaps present in the communities and how it is possible to incorporate the benefits of ICT in these territories. The methodology to be followed includes a theoretical documentary review about the main concepts that are addressed and underpin the study at an international level; as well as the analysis of the methodology of Ramírez (Revista de Ciencias de la Administración y Economía 9(17):127–143, 2019) for the generation of tourism products from the local community. From this analysis, a new proposal was obtained, where the technological component is included up to the creation of a smart ecosystem. The main conclusions reached are, that despite the existing gaps in the communities, the application of ICTs in a synergic way in the processes involved in tourism activities is beneficial. In the development of tourism products, the importance of the integration of technological solutions in the stages of the methodology of Ramírez (Revista de Ciencias de la Administración y Economía 9(17):127–143, 2019) for the creation of a smart ecosystem that has an impact on the optimization of resources, the visitor experience, and the competitiveness of destinations is demonstrated. The development of smart ecosystems favors tourism management and community empowerment based on the demonstration of the feasibility of its implementation as an innovative and operationally scalable alternative in communities capable of breaking the identified technological gap.

摘要
