Smart IoT-Driven Wireless System for Automated Water Overflow Control
摘要
Water is a valuable and essential resource on the planet. Generally, most houses rely on overhead tanks as their main source of water. Human monitoring and interventions are typically required to operate the motor and prevent water wastage. This paper presents a Smart IoT-Driven Wireless System for Automated Water Overflow Control, designed to enhance water management efficiency and minimize wastage. The system utilizes an ultrasonic sensor to continuously monitor water levels in overhead tanks, calculating the distance to the water surface based on the travel time of echo signals. A NodeMCU microcontroller processes this data and controls the water-pumping motor, activating or deactivating it as needed without human intervention. The system communicates wirelessly via a MySQL server and HTTP protocol, providing real-time updates on water levels through a user-friendly web application. Additionally, a GSM module sends notifications to users’ mobile devices, ensuring they are informed of the tank’s status. This innovative approach not only eliminates the need for manual monitoring but also promotes efficient water usage in households, addressing the critical issue of water wastage. The paper discusses the system’s design, methodology, and results, highlighting its potential to revolutionize water management practices in both domestic and commercial settings. Future enhancements are proposed to further improve system accuracy, reliability, and user experience.
