The technology of solvent extractions assisted by ultrasonic was applied to extract active groups in coal molecules. Then, changes of the active groups before and after the extraction of coal samples and their evolution laws in the process of oxidation heating were analyzed symmetrically by employing electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Consequently, extraction effects and mechanisms of different extractants on the active groups in coal were revealed. At the same time, mechanisms of weak interaction damage of coal molecular structure in the extraction process were revealed in this Chapter, which provided a new idea and an important basis for the study of coal microstructure and oxidation characteristics.
