Acanthamoeba Keratitis
摘要
Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK) is a relatively rare but important disease entity with potentially devastating consequences. The first case of AK was described in 1973 [1]. Since then, an increasing number of cases have been reported worldwide [2, 3] with an estimated prevalence of 1–9/100,000 as per the Orphanet database [3]. In the United States, the incidence among contact lens wearers has been estimated to be one to two new cases per one million per year [4], although the actual number of cases may be much higher [5].
