IoT-Based Smart Livestock Monitoring for Rural Communities
摘要
Smart livestock farming has the potential to revolutionize rural agriculture by integrating traditional practices with advanced technological solutions. This study focuses on developing an affordable and user-friendly “Smart Livestock Farming System for Rural People” to address challenges faced by small-scale farmers in monitoring cattle health and location. Rural livestock farming often relies on manual observation, which can be inefficient and fail to detect early signs of health issues. This project proposes a wearable device for cattle that includes sensors to track vital signs (e.g., heart rate and temperature) and GPS modules for real-time location monitoring. The primary objectives are to design a cost-effective, durable device made to rural needs and create a simple mobile interface for farmers to access actionable data. The system also includes data analytics and geofencing alerts, helping farmers quickly respond to health and security issues. By bridging the technology gap, this smart system aims to optimize resource management, reduce livestock losses, and promote sustainable grazing practices. This research has significant implications for rural development, providing data to inform policies that support technology adoption in agriculture. Beyond economic benefits, the system enhances food security, environmental conservation, and community resilience. Ultimately, smart livestock farming empowers rural farmers, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices and improving their livelihoods.
