The integrated development of natural gas pipeline network and natural gas industry is an inherent requirement of the new energy security strategy of “four revolutions and one cooperation” and the realization of fair and open oil and gas pipeline network facilities, as well as a prerequisite for guaranteeing energy security and promoting the high-quality development of natural gas industry. The establishment of PipeChina marks an important step in building the “X + 1 + X” natural gas industry system. With the joint efforts of the upstream, midstream and downstream of the natural gas industry, in recent years, China has shown an increasingly optimized layout of natural gas pipeline network, a large number of practitioners in the industry, a significant enhancement of the diversification of resources, an obvious increase in the ability to maintain supply and a significant increase in the opening up of services and platform-based transactions. At the same time, the integration of natural gas pipeline network also faces new challenges such as different degrees of marketization of upstream, midstream and downstream, failure to give full play to the efficiency of infrastructure and transformation of natural gas infrastructure. PipeChina will continue to promote the development of natural gas pipeline network integration, optimize the construction of natural gas infrastructure, accelerate the construction of “an integrated nationwide network”, improve the fair and open mechanism of natural gas pipeline network, and promote the integration of natural gas industry with new energy sources.
