The UTOPÍAS initiative represents a comprehensive strategy for deep social and urban transformation, designed to overcome the entrenched socio-territorial inequalities that characterize urban peripheries. By focusing on the regeneration of deteriorated public spaces and the construction of a network of large-scale, high-impact public facilities, the project seeks to promote human rights, enhance community well-being, and foster social inclusion. UTOPÍAS revalues public space as a shared community asset, ensuring its equitable distribution while advancing the principles of a 15-min city, where essential services, cultural activities, and recreational opportunities are accessible within a short distance for all residents. Over 540,000 m2 of formerly deteriorated urban areas have been successfully restored by 12 UTOPÍAS in just four years, turning them into vibrant community centers that now provide weekly services to over 100,000 people. These areas offer wellness, sports, education, and cultural services that directly enhance social cohesion, quality of life, and environmental sustainability. Through the integration of inclusive governance, sustainable urban planning, and public participation, UTOPÍAS has emerged as a potent example of equitable urban development, proving that transformative urban policies can produce resilient, prosperous communities and long-lasting social change. The initiative is related to SDGs 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 17.
