In the middle and late period of oil exploitation, bailing exploitation has become an indispensable way of pumping production. In the process of bailing exploitation, the traditional axial compression packing method and the non-smooth surface of the wire rope make the rubber packing for sealing the wire rope wear seriously. The remaining part of rubber packing is too much and can not be used, which will inevitably lead to a waste of materials and environmental pollution. Meanwhile, frequent replacement of packing will lead to inefficiency. Only by changing the compression direction of the packing—combine radial compression with axial compression can the force of all the packing be more uniform, so that good results can be achieved. The problem can be solved by placing the expanded copling sleeve between the rubber packing and the inner wall of the packing box. The field experiment shows that the service life of the packing is extended from 1.5 to 30 days, and the inner hole of the rubber packing and the outer surface of the wire rope are changed from the original “grinding” to “elastic friction”. The resistance between the packing and wire rope is significantly reduced, which leads to an increased effective power. The change of sealing direction and mode breaks people’s inherent understanding of traditional axial sealing, provides a new idea for the design and research of sealing device when designing and manufacturing equipment, and is of great significance for clean and environmental protection oil extraction.
