Toward Circular Economy in Transportation: Economic Incentives Over Other Obstacles to Purchasing Used Electric Motorbikes
摘要
Individuals interested in obtaining an electric motorbike have the option to buy a used one, which can lead to substantial cost reductions. Nevertheless, purchasing a used electric motorbike (UEM) for personal use raises a number of challenges. The purpose of the study was to determine what obstacles exist for those who want to purchase UEM. The study interviewed 320 persons in Hanoi in August of 2024 about the obstacles to purchasing UEM (PUEM), based on a survey of those who had planned to buy an electric motorcycle but ultimately decided against it. The factors were grouped using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) testing. Afterward, in order to determine the ranking of the factors influencing individuals who had the intention to purchase UEM, the study conducted AHP testing and conducted interviews with a group of 12 owners of UEM trading businesses. The study also gathered data on the extent of Price Discount (PD) to which 320 individuals’ purchase decisions might be changed due to a considerable decrease in PD. The study shows that UEM manufacturers can target diverse customer segments through varied pricing. However, after a 40–60% discount, customers prioritize warranties over further price cuts. UEM traders should focus on warranty, repair, and maintenance services while providing safety information to reassure consumers unfamiliar with UEM machinery, emphasizing trust over discounts.
