This chapter describes my research journey. I embarked on doctoral studies after serving as a headteacher for nineteen years. I wanted to return to the subject which had been the reason why I had become a teacher, Religious Education. I explain my original motivations and how I began to research the theological and educational issues at play in reframing Religious Education in Catholic schools with particular reference to teaching the subject in a plural and diverse context. In discussing my own research journey I am able to offer some suggestions and advice for others who might want to research Catholic Religious Education.
