Gaining Insight into the Structural and Optical Characteristics of 4-Methylbenzylammonium Oxalate Hydrate

Nonlinear Optical (NLO) single crystals, distinguished by their unique properties, play a pivotal role in photonics and optics. These crystals exhibit remarkable nonlinear optical behavior under high-intensity light, facilitating frequency conversion and optical signal processing applications. In this context, our study focuses on exploring 4-methylbenzylammonium Oxalate Hydrate as a prospective organic NLO material. The synthesized compound was subjected to various characterizations to identify its suitability for device fabrication. Its structure was confirmed using powder XRD and lattice parameters were found similar to that reported in the literature. Its wide transmission range and highly transmitting nature were revealed by its UV–Vis-IR spectra. The photoluminescence spectrum of the sample reveals a broad emission peak at 407 nm, indicating the violet region of the electromagnetic spectrum. All these studies confirm its suitability for optoelectronic devices.
