Conclusions
摘要
In this chapter, I outline the conclusions of the book. I argue that, taken together, these chapters provide a picture of how women’s biographies and reproductive capabilities are set to effectively guarantee successful egg retrievals that promise specific genetic and ethnoracial futures. Taming methods operate at multiple levels: discursively, where a framing of egg donation as altruistic and anonymous generates specific understandings among donors; at the level of information delivery in clinics, where transnational market dynamics are obscured; through the selection and management of egg donors’ biographical profiles, employing various control and care techniques to keep donors in line; and at the level of bodily reproductive capabilities, where genetic and phenotypical information is precariously stabilized into objectifiable categories. This process ultimately undermines the participation and labor of egg donors, rendering them invisible in egg donation treatments and transforming their eggs into bio-objects ready to enter reproductive bioeconomy circuits.
