Despite being advertised as less harmful than smoking combusted tobacco, when used extensively, e-cigs or vaping likely have several health consequences. Vaping is believed to affect the users’ and others’ respiratory and cardiovascular systems and may cause nicotine addiction. Vaping irritates the user’s lungs; for those who have lung diseases such as asthma and bronchitis, vaping may make their conditions worse. Vaping, even briefly, causes a cough, shortness of breath, and inflammation. EVALI, also known as e-cig or vaping use-associated lung injury, is a severe medical problem caused by a vaping habit. Long-term vaping impact on the heart is currently unknown. Nevertheless, research indicates that it can raise blood pressure and heart rate, thus increasing the risk of heart disease. Nicotine in vapes may also worsen existing cardiovascular illness and is highly addictive. Thus, people are unable to stop using vapes because of dependence. It is important to understand that using both e-cigs and conventional cigarettes can increase overall nicotine addiction rather than reduce health risks. We should also be aware that e-cigs could potentially cause cancer because they contain several harmful chemicals, and nicotine itself in its content can support tumor growth and damage the DNA. Overall, the impact of e-cigs on health is complicated, and more research is needed to determine its long-term effects and policies for public health.
