A Comprehensive Review of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in Construction: Tools, BIM Integration, and Applications in Morocco
摘要
The construction industry’s environmental impact underscores the need for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools. However, their underutilization in Morocco is evident. This paper reviews LCA tools, their integration with Building Information Modeling (BIM), and identifies research gaps in the Moroccan construction sector. Findings reveal a lack of LCA-BIM integration, limited practical applications, and scarcity of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for local materials. The paper advocates for region-specific case studies, user-friendly LCA tools, and integrated LCA and life cycle costing (LCC) approaches. It also emphasizes LCA's effectiveness in diverse contexts and suggests future research areas, including comprehensive construction process analysis, environmental impact weighting, and LCA application in developing countries like Morocco.
