Comparative Study of Nature-Based Intervention Strategies for Urban Climate Control Using the ENVI-met Climate Simulation Software
摘要
In the global scheme for the mitigation of the climate change there is still much to be achieve, as architect, urbanist and researchers of the field, the control of urban climate it is an essential subject to tackle in support of this global goals. There for, the extensive study of different interventions strategies, not only to learn and implement all the range of viable solutions for the urban climate control, but also to learn which are the most effective and appropriate for each specific case should be an important research focus. This research compares the effects of the integration of different nature-based mitigation strategies in a sector of “El Almendral” a historic neighborhood of Valparaíso in Chile. The proposals consider exterior intervention on selected buildings and public space present in the study area, these interventions respect the local regulations for historic conservation and international guidelines established by organizations preoccupied with the world heritage conservation. These strategies were simulated with the climate simulation software ENVI-met, which provided several parameters as results, such as air temperature, mean radiant temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, among many more, each strategy simulation result was compared to the original case simulation to evaluate the improvement obtained. The research of mitigation strategies brings invaluable inside into the climate change problematic providing guidelines for the development of new public policies and overall recommendations for the control of urban climate.
