Analysis of Renewable Energy and CO2 Emission Impact on the Economy of Middle East Countries

Generating electricity from renewable energy will result in substantially reduced emissions compared to fossil-based fuels. Renewable energy production is essential to deal with the challenges posed by climate change. The objective of this research is to investigate the renewable energy sources in Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The aim is to understand the economies of these nations individually and in conjunction with other high-income countries, with a focus on comparing their Carbon Dioxide (CO2) production to that of other high-income countries. A time series analysis was conducted on the dataset to comprehend the trends in renewable energy production in these Middle Eastern countries. Additionally, an assessment of the CO2 emissions of these nations was carried out, comparing them to global data. The study utilized the renewable energy worldwide dataset, spanning 57 years data, to analyze the percentage of electricity generated from various renewable sources. The world economy dataset was employed to categorize these five countries, while the CO2 emissions by country dataset was used to examine their carbon dioxide emissions. As of 2019, Saudi Arabia emerged as the highest contributor to CO2 emissions, while the United Arab Emirates leads in the percentage of electricity generated from renewable sources among these five Middle Eastern Countries.
