Although better methodologies are used in present day constructions processes, the industry faces issues pertaining to overruns in time schedules, departure from expected quality standards, cost overruns, inefficiency and environmental hazards. Adoption of precast technology is the answer to the listed issues. Although there are precast solutions already available, most are relevant to mass housing. In this method, structure is discretised into smaller elements, cast separately in a factory environment and then transported and assembled on site. Mechanical assembly of joints between elements are critical for global structural behaviour of the construct. For this method, the distance of the joint from the point where the Bending moment changes sign is carefully chosen and sought to be kept at a minimum. IS specifications for ductility are followed in specifications. Static load test is carried out. FEM models are also used to simulate the structural behaviour. Comparison of the FEM model and static load test results show acceptable results.

摘要
