Sustainable disposal and management of faecal sludge (FS) is a major challenge today. Large-scale urbanization demands huge construction materials and there is a need to explore alternative sustainable building materials replacing natural building materials. Concerning these issues, this study evaluates the potential use of dry faecal sludge (FS) as a primary ingredient in the production of bricks. The curing of bricks was done using renewable energy from sunlight. The integration of FS with soil and lime aims to enhance resource recovery from faecal sludge treatment plants, addressing both waste management and construction material needs. The FS bricks were subjected to various tests including compressive strength, water absorption, and abrasion resistance. Results indicate that FS bricks possess comparable to or better properties than traditional soil-based bricks, with the added benefits of being lighter in weight and more eco-friendly. This research supports the development of sustainable sanitation practices and offers a cost-effective alternative to conventional building materials, promoting the utilization of waste as a valuable resource.
