Endobronchial Lipoma
摘要
Endobronchial lipomas are extremely rare benign tumors, accounting for 0.1–0.5% of lung tumors and approximately 13% of benign lung tumors. These conditions typically affect middle-aged men, with a strong predominance (male-to-female ratio of 45:7). Clinically, affected patients most commonly exhibit cough and symptoms of chest infection, with diagnosis being delayed due to their indolent nature. Building on this idea, smoking and obesity have been identified as significant risk factors for endobronchial lipomas. Several studies have shown that computed tomography (CT) scan and treatment using bronchoscopic excision are safe and effective, with low recurrence rates. In this case report, a 60-year-old male patient presented to the hospital with chief complaints of fever and dry cough for more than 1 year. The patient had a history of heavy smoking and was later diagnosed with endobronchial lipomas based on a thoracic CT examination with contrast, which showed fat attenuation. Subsequently, a bronchoscopy procedure was performed, leading to significant improvement in the clinical condition.
