Kartagener Syndrome: A Rare Autosomal Recessive Disorder
摘要
Kartagener syndrome (KS) is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by the combination of primary ciliary dyskinesia and situs inversus. Patients typically present with chronic recurrent rhinosinusitis, otitis media, pneumonia, and bronchiectasis, often caused by pseudomonal infection, with situs inversus observed in approximately 50% of cases. This case report described an elderly female patient who presented with difficulty breathing due to pulmonary infection. She was subjected to a CT scan of the thorax, which showed situs inversus. Based on the patient’s clinical presentation and radiological results, she was diagnosed with KS. The treatment administered was supportive and included antibiotics, chest physiotherapy, and pulmonary care. After receiving antibiotics, the patient’s clinical condition showed significant improvement.
