We estimate the stochastic gravitational wave background from the quasistable cosmic strings. The strong evidence of stochastic gravitational wave background in the NANOGrav 15 year data can be explained by the superheavy quasistable strings with dimensionless string tension \(G\mu \approx 3\times 10^{-8}- 4\times 10^{-5}\) (where G is Newton’s gravitational constant and \(\mu \) denotes the string tension) and horizon reentry time of the monopoles \(t_M\approx 10^0-8\times 10^4\) s at the 95% credible interval.

摘要

We estimate the stochastic gravitational wave background from the quasistable cosmic strings. The strong evidence of stochastic gravitational wave background in the NANOGrav 15 year data can be explained by the superheavy quasistable strings with dimensionless string tension \(G\mu \approx 3\times 10^{-8}- 4\times 10^{-5}\) (where G is Newton’s gravitational constant and \(\mu \) denotes the string tension) and horizon reentry time of the monopoles \(t_M\approx 10^0-8\times 10^4\) s at the 95% credible interval.
