This work proposes that there are specific quantum field-theoretic scenarios in which the reduced quantum state, obtained by tracing out non-accessible degrees of freedom of a subsystem, can be path-dependent and, therefore, not unique. By “path dependence,” we mean that the reduced state may vary based on the sequence in which the tracing procedure is performed. This variation in the reduced state can have significant implications.

摘要

This work proposes that there are specific quantum field-theoretic scenarios in which the reduced quantum state, obtained by tracing out non-accessible degrees of freedom of a subsystem, can be path-dependent and, therefore, not unique. By “path dependence,” we mean that the reduced state may vary based on the sequence in which the tracing procedure is performed. This variation in the reduced state can have significant implications.
