Evaluation of Compression Performance of 3D Video in Uavs3e

This paper delves into the assessment of the compression performance of 3D video content within the framework of uavs3e, a pioneering open-source encoder grounded in the Advanced Video Coding Standard 3 (AVS3). As the third-generation audiovisual codec standard formulated by the esteemed AVS Working Group, AVS3 stands out as the inaugural video encoding standard specifically tailored to cater to the burgeoning demands of 8K resolution and 5G technology in various industries. Remarkably, the benchmark tier of AVS3 achieves a significant leap in performance, surpassing its predecessor standards, AVS2 and HEVC, by approximately 30%. At the core of uavs3e lies a sophisticated integration of innovative coding tools that revolutionize predictive capabilities, transformational efficiencies, and other critical aspects of video encoding. Through meticulous configuration of select parameters within uavs3e, our research endeavors to provide a comprehensive evaluation of its compression capabilities when tasked with compressing 3D video data. The findings of this paper not only offer valuable insights into the suitability of uavs3e for 3D video encoding but also pave the way for further optimizations and advancements in multimedia applications, particularly those leveraging the latest advancements in video resolution and transmission technologies.
