Underground gas storage is currently the most important storage and peak shaving method for natural gas resources in the world, and large-sized injection production wells are the best way to efficiently build and quickly reach capacity for gas storage. The Nanpu No. 1 Gas Storage is located in the Bohai Bay beach area. Due to the limitations of surface and underground conditions, the newly drilled injection and production gas wells are designed with high inclination and long displacement wells. In response to the engineering problems faced by drilling large and deep inclined sections, such as instability of thick basalt wellbore walls, difficulty in wellbore purification, leakage of fractured and deficient wellbore, and protection of low-pressure reservoirs, an effective set of deep inclined section drilling fluid technology is formed by introducing efficient sealing materials and strengthening drilling fluid performance control. On site application shows that this technology meets the requirements of stable wellbore, leak prevention and plugging, and safe drilling in large-sized deep inclined well sections of gas storage facilities. Eight wells were applied on site, and the quality of the deep inclined well section was significantly improved, with an average wellbore enlargement rate of 7.1%, a mechanical drilling speed increase of more than 20%, and a one-time qualification rate of 80% for formation pressure. With no drilling complex accidents occurred, meeting the high-quality construction needs of deep inclined wells in gas storage facilities. This provides technical reference for achieving high-quality drilling in injection and production wells of the same type of gas storage facilities.
