Technology Research and Application of Key Tools for Testing Ultra-Deep Complex Oil and Gas Reservoirs

Tarim Oilfield is the main field of deep and ultra-deep oil and gas exploration and development in China. With the deepening of exploration and development, oil testing operations are faced with problems such as deep well, high temperature, high pressure, small hole, insufficient tool index, unmatched technology and high dependence on foreign tools and equipment. To this end, we carry out original leading scientific and technological innovation, systematically tackle the problems of integration of ultra-deep well wellbore preparation, perforation, testing and data acquisition. Five key oil test technologies have been developed, including integrated wellbore preparation technology for ultra-deep and complex Wells, ultra-deep and ultra-high temperature and ultra-high pressure perforation technology, ultra-high temperature and high-pressure APR small hole testing technology, ultra-deep and high-temperature and high-pressure DPT data acquisition technology, and ultra-deep and ultra-deep pipe string mechanical fine check technology. The supporting technologies have been popularized and applied in more than 600 Wells in Tarim. In the case of increasing well depth year by year, the test success rate increased from 77 to 100%, and the average oil test cycle of a single well dropped from 24.6 days to 17.0 days, breaking the “bottleneck” technical problems such as data acquisition of ultra-deep high-temperature and high-pressure gas Wells in China, and breaking the technical barriers formed by foreign enterprises in this technology for many years. It has formed the core technology and supporting tools with independent intellectual property rights, providing advanced technical support for the exploration and discovery of deep and ultra-deep oil and gas resources, and contributing an important force to the national energy security.
