Study on Remaining Oil Distribution in Meandering River Controlled by Reservoir Configuration and Injection-Production Pattern

The distribution of barrier-intercalation inside the reservoir is the focus and difficulty of the remaining oil description in the later stage of the reservoir development. Due to the frequent migration and diversion of meandering river channels, it is difficult to understand the distribution and combination patterns of its reservoir configuration. The influence of the difference in the injection-production pattern leads to complex distribution of the remaining oil in the reservoir. In order to provide theoretical basis for reactivation of remaining oil reserves in ultra-high reservoirs, based on physical simulation and numerical simulation analysis of interlayer insulation occurrence, the size, type and thickness, and the direction of the injection-production matching relations. Three distribution patterns of remaining oil in meandering rivers have been formed: oil–water gravity difference blocks remaining oil, lateral accretion layers inside point bars block remaining oil, and abandoned river channels control remaining oil. Based on this model, governance strategies such as plane strengthening adjustment, interval and interlayer subdivision adjustment, and potential tapping at the top of horizontal wells are proposed to guide the further development of this type of reservoir.
